Field Studies

Field studies are an important aspect of landscape painting. By studying out of doors, one is able to pick up much information that cannot be obtained by looking at photographs. In these field studies, I am striving to capture the color, light, and general feeling of the scene. The goal here is not necessarily the creation of a finished painting (although sometimes this is a welcome result!). Rather, it is to capture information which will provide the foundation for my studio Paintings.
